Emmanuel was born and raised in Bellville, TX, where he attended Bellville High School. At Bellville, Emmanuel was an acclaimed four-sport athlete in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Following his senior year, Emmanuel was named a First-Team All-District running back, wide receiver, and safety, as well as Team MVP and Tri-County Offensive Player  of the Year.

Emmanuel committed to Southern Methodist University, where he continued  on to be a three-year starter. Emmanuel was later awarded All-Conference honors during his final two seasons with the Mustangs.

Emmanuel declared for the NFL Draft after his senior year. He was selected in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft as the 82nd pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Emmanuel finished his rookie year with 28 receptions for 376 yards and two touchdowns. Despite losing to the GreenES_04 Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV, Emmanuel contributed 2 catches for 17 yards to conclude his rookie season. Emmanuel remained with the Steelers through the 2013 season, solidifying himself as an integral part of the Steelers’ receiving team.

On March 15th, 2014, Emmanuel signed with the Denver Broncos. In his team debut, Emmanuel recorded 6 receptions for 77 yards against the Indianapolis Colts. Emmanuel finished the 2014 season with 101 receptions for 1,404 yards and 9 touchdowns. Emmanuel was later added to the 2015 Pro Bowl roster, and contributed five catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns in Team Irvin’s win over Team Carter.

Emmanuel joined the San Francisco 49ers in 2019 and played in Super Bowl 54 in Miami against the Kansas City Chiefs. He joined the New Orleans Saints in 2020.
